Casper Wave Mattress Review
Despite its status as an industry pioneer based on the success of the original Casper mattress, the Casper Sleep company has continued to innovate.
A product of this innovation is the Casper Wave, a luxury mattress launched in 2017. The Wave features a carefully selected mix of materials that work together to create a responsive, resilient, and comfortable bed that comes with extra perks like complimentary in-home setup.

The Casper Wave has a medium feel that falls around a 4.5-5 on the typical firmness scale in which 1 is the softest and 10 is the firmest.
The Casper Wave can be purchased online directly from Casper. It is available in some brick-and-mortar stores in over 10 states. An up-to-date listing of stores offering the Wave is available on the Casper website.
The Wave is made with five interior layers surrounded by a cotton-blend cover.
The top layer is 1” of a soft, responsive polyfoam.
The second layer is 1.5” of latex that is a mix of natural and synthetic latex.
The third layer is 1.5” of memory foam.
The fourth layer is 1.5” of gel-infused polyfoam.
The bottom layer, the support core, is 5.5” of polyfoam.
Casper does not publish information about the density of these foams.
Casper offers free shipping in the U.S. and Canada. In many areas, this shipping includes free white-glove delivery and setup for the Wave.
Within select delivery areas, the Wave comes with complimentary white glove installation.

Casper Wave Mattress Performance
The Casper Wave is solid but not exceptional at motion isolation.
The topmost layer of the Wave has solid contouring properties that assist with motion isolation. The layer of memory foam helps with isolating motion as well. In between those layers, though, latex gives more bounce that can cause more motion to be felt on other parts of the body.
Like many foam beds, the edge of the Casper Wave is prone to sinking, especially when sitting on the edge of the bed. This effect is more pronounced with people who weigh over 230 pounds.
The alternating layers of foam and latex in this mattress help to permit airflow and prevent the material from building up heat. As a result, most sleepers do not report problems with sleeping hot on the Casper Wave.
The Wave may have some initial smell when it is brand new, but this fades within a few hours or days and is generally not a problem.
Casper has invested significant resources into designing a mattress that provides excellent support. The different layers are built to give variable support to the body’s pressure points. Each of the materials offer an element of responsiveness that altogether excels in promoting spinal alignment.
The comfort layers of the Wave effectively respond and conform to the body but without excessive sink that can be uncomfortable. The latex layer enhances conforming while at the same time boosting the resilience of the mattress.
As a new model, the Casper Wave does not have a long enough track record to know how it will hold up over many years of use. However, early returns indicate that this mattress should have a similar useful life as most foam mattresses.
The latex layer in this mattress gives sufficient bounce to prevent problems with movement, including sex, on top of the bed.

What Type of Sleeper is Suited to the Casper Wave Mattress?
Part of the process of finding the best fit in a mattress is thinking about whether it will suit your needs given your body size and sleeping position.
Side sleepers: when on your side, you need extra cushioning for pressure points, and the Wave does an excellent job of meeting this need for sleepers of any weight. Given its firmness level, some people who weigh over 230 pounds may find it has excessive sink.
Back sleepers: thanks to its responsiveness and resilience, the Casper Wave can be a solid choice for back sleepers who weigh under 230 pounds. For heavier back sleepers, there may be too much sink to keep the lower back supported and the spine aligned.
Stomach sleepers: because it is only medium in terms of firmness, most stomach sleepers will find that there is too much contouring and softness. The exception is stomach sleepers under 130 pounds who will not cause as much compression in the top layers.
