DreamCloud is a brand that was launched in 2018 by Nectar Sleep, which launched its own mattress in 2017.

The DreamCloud mattress is a hybrid with 8 different layers that combine to have a height of 15”. It uses numerous different types of materials — including innerspring coils, latex, and memory foam — to try to achieve a “best of all worlds” feel.

The DreamCloud mattress has a firmness level of about a 6.5 on the typical 1-10 firmness scale (in which 1 is the softest and 10 is the firmest).

The DreamCloud mattress is only sold directly through the company’s website.

The construction of the DreamCloud is complex and involves 8 individual layers. These layers are described below in order from top to bottom.

  1. TrueTufted™ Cashmere blend cover
  2. Gel-infused memory foam
  3. Quilted memory foam
  4. Natural latex
  5. Memory foam
  6. Soft memory foam
  7. Foam-encased innerspring coils
  8. Support memory foam

Beyond this basic outline of the layers of the mattress, the company does not disclose any further details. For example, we do not know the thickness for each of these layers. Because thickness can directly affect the feel and performance of a layer of the mattress, this is a major unknown.

In addition, the company does not list any information about the nature of these materials like the foam density or the coil count for the innerspring layer.

Though descriptive terms about the general feel of the layers (such as “soft” or “super soft”) are included on the company website, these descriptions do not offer the kind of detailed materials specifications that we usually look for.

The DreamCloud comes with free shipping by FedEx to the continental United States. With this standard shipping, the mattress is delivered to your front door packaged in a box and inside plastic packaging. After you move the box to your bedroom and remove the mattress from the packaging, it decompresses to reach its full size.

Additional Services

Setup of the mattress and haul-away of an old mattress is available from DreamCloud, though the price varies based on your location.

Sleep Trial

One major plus of the DreamCloud mattress is that the company offers a 365 night sleep trial. This allows you a full year to test out the mattress in your own home. During this time, you can return the mattress to DreamCloud and receive a full refund.

The warranty for the DreamCloud is a lifetime warranty. The company refers to this as an Everlong lifetime warranty. In the first ten years, DreamCloud will replace the mattress if there are any defects in manufacturing. After 10 years, the company will either repair the mattress or replace it. There are no shipping charges for the customer associated with a warranty repair. Full warranty terms are available at https://www.dreamcloudsleep.com/p/warranty/.

DreamCloud Mattress Performance

Motion Isolation

Because of its extensive use of memory foam, the DreamCloud performs well when it comes to motion isolation. Because memory foam only responds to pressure in the place where that pressure is applied, it is thought of as the best available material for preventing motion transfer.

Edge Support

Given the plush Cashmere cover and the multiple foam layers, edge support for the DreamCloud is only average. In the middle of the mattress, the compression of the foam provides comfort, but at the edge of the bed, it can feel as though the mattress is caving in. There is no reinforcement for edge support in the DreamCloud, so this may be noticeable for people who often sit or sleep near the edge of their bed.

Heat Retention

A foam-based mattress like the DreamCloud will definitely retain some heat, although the company has worked to design the mattress cover in a way that reduces heat buildup. In addition, the latex and innerspring layers can give the mattress more resilience and less sink, which may permit added airflow. Overall, while heat retention may be a problem for people who are very prone to sleeping hot, most customers probably will not have an issue with the DreamCloud.

After foam is compressed, it tends to give off an odor immediately after it is removed from packaging. For this reason, you should expect a light initial smell from the DreamCloud, but this should dissipate soon in a well-ventilated room. There is no health risk associated with this odor.

It can be hard to effectively gauge the support provided by the DreamCloud mattress because of the lack of information when it comes to the mattress specifications. Without knowing the thickness of the mattress layers, it is more challenging to know how the different layers work together to provide support.

That said, with its extensive use of memory foam and pocketed innerspring coils, the general design of the DreamCloud is one that should be highly-responsive to the pressure points of each sleeper. By accommodating these pressure points, the mattress can help to prevent misalignment of the neck or spine that can be associated with pain or soreness.

Soft memory foams are among the most conforming materials on the market, and these are used in multiple different layers of the DreamCloud mattress.

We do not have enough information to review the durability of the DreamCloud mattress. Not only has it not been on the market long enough to have customer data over the course of many years, but without knowing key details (like the density of the foams), we cannot predict how well this mattress will stand the test of time.

Even though some memory foam mattresses have issues with inhibiting sex, this is not a major issue with the DreamCloud because of the added bounce provided by the innerspring and latex layers.

Who Is Well Suited to the DreamCloud Mattress?

Every person is in search of their perfect mattress, and the truth is that there’s no one brand or model that can be perfect for everyone. Instead, you have to consider a range of different things to try to identify which mattress might be optimal for you.

A place to start in these considerations is sleeping position, and here’s how the DreamCloud may work for people in different positions.

Side Sleepers: side sleepers need more responsiveness and often more softness to manage what can be sharp pressure points (at the hips and shoulders). The DreamCloud may provide this for many side sleepers, but it is hard to know for sure without knowing more about the thickness of the interior layers.

Back Sleepers: given its blend of medium-firmness with the conforming of memory foam, this mattress may strike a good balance for a lot of back sleepers.

Stomach Sleepers: stomach sleepers normally need a mattress that is on the firmer side, which is why the DreamCloud may be an option. At the same time, it also can give contouring to help support the heavier parts of the body (specifically around the abdomen).

Our Verdict

The DreamCloud mattress has many elements that could add up to a luxurious and comfortable mattress at a reasonable price. It includes many types of materials that could come together to create a top-notch mattress.

However, at this time, we lack the information — either from sufficient customer reviews or from details about the construction of the mattress — to know how well it achieves those goals in reality.
