The Ghostbed Classic is a latex and foam mattress, launched in 2015 by manufacturer Nature’s Sleep. It is a good option for a consumer who is looking for the contouring support of memory foam and the bounce of latex.
The Ghostbed is made up of three separate layers: a support core of polyfoam, a layer of gel-infused memory foam, and a top layer of aerated, synthetic Dunlop latex. The cover is a woven polyester fabric blend. The mattress is available in one firmness option in all standard sizes, each 11 inches in height.
Here’s a quick look at the pros and cons of the GhostBed mattress:

The GhostBed Classic is available in one firmness option, which falls at a 6.5 on the firmness scale. (The scale is from 1-10, with 10 being the most firm and 1 being the least firm.) This is considered medium firm and is generally a suitable starting place for all sleeping positions. But a sleeper who typically prefers a softer, more plush feel might find the GhostBed to be too firm.
The GhostBed Classic is a mixed foam and latex mattress, constructed in four layers. The support core is 7.5 inches of high-density 2.0 PCF (pounds per cubic foot) polyfoam. Next is 2 inches of 4.0 PCF gel-infused memory foam, designed to both contour and cool the body. The top comfort layer is 1.5 inches of 3.5 PCF aerated, synthetic Dunlop latex foam. This layer adds a bit of natural bounce and responsiveness to the bed. The Ghostbed cover is woven blend of viscose and polyester. GhostBed’s materials are Certi-Pur certified and are manufactured to produce zero emissions.
The GhostBed is vacuumed sealed and shipped in a labeled box. The bed has no parts and no assembly is required.
Shipping Policies: The GhostBed is guaranteed to ship within 24 hours of ordering. It ships free throughout the continental United States via FedEx. Customers in Alaska and Hawaii pay a $600 freight charge.
When the GhostBed arrives, you should unseal and unroll it promptly, so the mattress can decompress. It can take anywhere from a few hours up to a day for the mattress to completely expand. If the mattress was exposed to cold temperatures – say, left out on the porch on a very cold day – it will take longer to fully expand.
When purchased directly from the manufacturer, the GhostBed mattress comes with a 101-night sleep trial. The company does require that you keep the mattress for at least 30 nights before making a final decision. If you decide you are unhappy with the mattress for any reason after that, you can return it for a full refund.
If purchased through Amazon, the sleep trial is only 30 nights total and there is no minimum requirement. Returns must be coordinated through Amazon.
Nature’s Sleep, GhostBed’s manufacturer, offers a 20-year limited warranty on the GhostBed Classic. During the first 10 years of the warranty, the company will replace or repair the mattress if there are defects in craftsmanship and cover all costs, excluding shipping and handling fees. During the final 10 years of the warranty, the company will cover costs to repair the mattress (excluding shipping and handling) or will replace the mattress at a pro-rated cost to the consumer. Full terms of the warranty can be found here.

GhostBed Classic Mattress Performance
Foam and latex mattresses usually offer good motion isolation. The GhostBed is no different. The foam and latex layers tend to “trap” movement and keep it from rippling throughout the bed.
Like most foam and latex mattresses, the GhostBed does not have a reinforced perimeter. This means it lacks edge support around the outside edges of the bed. The GhostBed’s high-density support core does help to somewhat stabilize the edge, but the support here is still lacking what you would find in an innerspring mattress.
While foam mattresses are notorious for retaining heat, latex foam is known to increase air flow and help maintain cooler temperatures. The GhostBed’s comfort layers of aerated latex and gel-infused memory foam are designed to do specifically that and customers generally agree that the GhostBed regulates temperature well and sleeps relatively cool.
Most all foam mattress emit a temporary smell when initially unpacked. Customers report that the GhostBed, however, produces little to no smell, which is very rare.
Proper support keeps your neck and spine in alignment while you sleep and GhostBed’s mix of foams create a strong level of support. The high-density base foam provides a firm foundation, while the comfort layers of memory foam and latex foam work together to increase contouring, prevent sinking and add bounce.
The GhostBed does offer some contouring, thanks to its gel-infused memory foam layer. This effect is somewhat tempered, however, by the layer of latex foam that prevents excessive sinkage.
The GhostBed has only been available for two years, so there are no conclusive reports on its durability or longevity. In general, dense, high-quality foam and latex materials tend to hold up well over time.
The added layer of latex foam gives the GhostBed enough responsiveness and bounce that it should not prevent movement or obstruct sexual activity.

What Type of Sleeper Is Well Suited to a GhostBed Classic?
Determining which mattresses is right for you is very personal. It depends on your preferences, typical sleeping position, body weight and type, and any health conditions. It’s always important to consider your individual comfort and spinal support needs and preferences. Make sure you take advantage of any sleep trial to make sure any mattresses is a good fit for you personally.
Keeping all that in mind, you can consider this subjective customer feedback:
Side Sleepers: Customers who tend to sleep on their side gave the GhostBed average marks. Lightweight side sleepers (those weighing less than 130 lbs) rated the GhostBed as “fair.” The 6.5 firmness of the GhostBed might be too much for these sleepers who exert little pressure on the mattress. Average weight sleepers (those weighing between 130-230 lbs) and heavyweight sleepers (those weighing more than 230 lbs) both rated the GhostBed as “good.”
Back Sleepers: Lightweight back sleepers rated the GhostBed as “very good.” Both average and heavyweight sleepers said the GhostBed was “good.” Back sleepers tend to do well with a medium-firmness mattress, which explains why the GhostBed received solid marks across the spectrum.
Stomach Sleepers: Reviews from stomach sleepers varied based on weight. Lightweight sleepers rated the GhostBed as “fair.” Again, those who exert relatively little pressure on the mattress might feel as if the GhostBed is too firm. Those of an average weight rated it “very good.” And heavyweight sleepers rated it as “good.”
Customer Service: In our research, 7 out of 10 customers said they had a positive experience with the company, irrespective of how they felt about the mattress.
