Best Mattress Stores in Seattle, WashingtonUpdated on July 7, 2020
Seattle is known for being on the cutting edge of technology. It’s where Microsoft was founded, and it’s the home base for Amazon, the worldwide e-commerce giant. Given that it’s a tech-savvy city, most Seattle residents are accustomed to making a lot of purchases online. Nevertheless, there’s a vibrant collection of brick-and-mortar stores for all types of products, including mattresses.
The options for in-person mattress shopping in Seattle are extensive. For people interested in online brands, there are places to see these mattresses, including at branded showrooms and certain other retail stores. A number of local mattress stores provide more options and a more curated shopping experience.
If you live in Seattle and are the type of person who wants to see mattresses in person before buying one, this guide is for you. We’ll tell you where you can find the most exciting and popular brands and the most well-regarded mattress stores.
Physical Stores for Online Brands
There has been a huge shift in the mattress industry with more customers than ever deciding to buy a mattress online. Dozens of online companies selling mattresses directly to consumers have burst onto the scene, offering a huge variety at great price points.
But there’s no doubt that some people still like to shop in person, especially for a mattress, which they want to be able to touch and feel before deciding which to buy. To help accommodate these customers, a number of online mattress brands have opened in-person showrooms where you can get a closer look at their products.
In the greater Seattle area, there are three such showrooms, giving you the ability to check out some of the most popular brands in a brick-and-mortar store. Details for these showrooms can be found in the table below.

Tuft & Needle
Tuft & Needle has built a huge following in the mattress industry. This started with their Original Tuft & Needle mattress, a no-frills foam bed that delivers high-end performance at an entry-level price. They’ve since expanded their product line to include the Tuft & Needle Mint Mattress, which features an additional foam layer and other touches that help the mattress sleep cool.
Both the Original and Mint mattresses take advantage of the company’s proprietary Adaptive Foam, a specialty polyfoam built to provide notable contouring but without excessive sink or heat retention. Both mattresses come with a 100-night sleep trial and a 10-year warranty.
Customers can see these beds in the Seattle Tuft & Needle retail store. The store is arranged to provide a more home-like setting where you can get a true feel for the mattress. The store also allows you to check out other popular Tuft & Needle products including their pillow (also made with Adaptive Foam), sheets, duvets, duvet covers, bed frames, and more.
Nest Bedding was founded in 2011 and hit the ground running with a product line that has been consistently well-received by reviewers and customers. Nest Bedding offers mattresses made with different construction styles and materials. Some of the most popular beds include those in the Alexander Signature Series and the Love & Sleep. They also have multiple products that employ certified organic materials.
In addition to their standard mattresses, Nest Bedding offers beds specifically meant for kids, including the popular Big Kids’ Bed (BKB). Beyond mattresses, the product line includes sheets, pillows, blankets, toppers, mattress and pillow protectors, and several types of bases and foundations.
Nest Bedding’s Seattle Showroom allows you to take a look at these products in person. The store is conveniently located in downtown Seattle and is a perfect spot to be able to see and compare multiple Nest Bedding offerings in one fell swoop.
Casper is widely viewed as a trendsetter and leader in the mattress industry. Not only was the company a key driver of the popularity of selling mattresses online and directly to consumers, but Casper has also invested considerable resources into continually updating and expanding their product line.
The Original Casper mattress is an all-foam offering that takes advantage of multiple types of foam to provide significant pressure relief. Even though this mattress won over a devoted following, Casper continued to look for ways to expand their products to give customers more high-quality choices. The results of that process include the Casper Hybrid, the Casper Wave, and the Casper Wave Hybrid. The Wave offerings are luxury mattresses with a host of advanced design features.
Customers can view these products at the Casper Retail Store in Bellevue, Washington, just a short drive from Seattle. The store is located on the second floor of the Bellevue Square shopping center. Along with these mattresses, Casper’s store highlights their other products, including the Casper pillow, bedding, bed frames, and the Glow Light nightlight.
The Casper Essential mattress, the company’s most basic bed, is not on display at the Seattle store, but it can be seen in select Target stores, including some in Seattle. For a detailed listing of where you can see Casper products in person, you can consult the company’s online listing.

Purple Mattresses at Mattress Firm Stores
Purple has built a loyal customer base thanks in large part to their innovative and proprietary comfort layer material. This hyper-elastic polymer is formed into the Smart Comfort Grid, an arrangement of squares that compress to support the body but then rapidly bounce back to retake their original shape when pressure is removed. This material provides a great blend of pressure relief, bounce, and temperature regulation.
Purple puts this material to use in multiple mattress offerings. The Original Purple mattress has an all-foam design with a two-inch thick comfort layer made of the Smart Comfort Grid. The All-New Purple Mattress is a hybrid that places the Smart Comfort Grid above a support core of individually-wrapped innerspring coils. The comfort layer can be two, three, or four inches thick depending on which model you choose.
The Purple mattress line started out only online, but the company has partnered with Mattress Firm, one of the largest mattress retailers in the country, as part of a distribution agreement. Purple mattresses can now be seen and tested out in person at many Mattress Firm stores.
Mattress Firm has numerous locations in the greater Seattle area, providing customers multiple convenient places to get a closer look at the Purple mattresses. You can find the closest location to your address using the Mattress Firm Store Locator.
Leesa Mattresses at West Elm
Leesa, which built its initial following online, offers two distinct mattresses. The original Leesa mattress is all-foam and combines a memory foam layer with a specially designed polyfoam that has a mix of characteristics of memory foam and latex. The Leesa Hybrid employes these same materials in the comfort system, but its support core is made with six inches of pocketed innerspring coils.
Both Leesa mattresses get high marks from customers for their ability to support spinal alignment through pressure point relief but without causing you to ever feel like you’re sinking into the mattress. With competitive price points, both mattresses are worthy considerations, and in Seattle, there is an opportunity to see them in person.
West Elm is a store focused on decor and other essentials for your home. With an eye toward quality and style, West Elm carries a broad range of furniture and home accessories. West Elm has a partnership with Leesa to display and distribute mattresses in their stores, and there are two West Elm locations in the greater Seattle Area. Customers can scope out the Leesa at the West Elm in South Lake Union or at the West Elm in Bellevue.
Tuft & Needle Mint at Crate & Barrel
In addition to its own branded brick-and-mortar stores, Tuft & Needle has worked with a number of retailers, both national and regional, to make it easier for their products to reach customers.
One of their retail partners is Crate & Barrel, a national chain offering assorted housewares, including larger furniture like mattresses as well as smaller items for interior design and stocking your kitchen.
A Crate & Barrel store in Seattle, located in the University Village shopping center, displays the Tuft & Needle Mint mattress. It is important to note that the Original Tuft & Needle is not on offer at this store. The Mint is the higher-end option, featuring a second layer of Adaptive Foam and added design elements to enhance temperature regulation.

Soaring Heart Natural Beds
Soaring Heart Natural Beds is a Seattle-based mattress manufacturer that was founded in 1982. The company focuses on using materials — including latex, cotton, and wool — that are produced naturally and without chemical filler or additives. Many of the materials are certified organic. Each mattress is handmade to ensure that it meets Soaring Heart’s exacting standards.
The company offers multiple mattress models along with other bedding products and bedroom furniture. While they have distribution agreements to make their beds available in some other shops nationally, the home base is in Seattle, and you can visit their Queen Anne showroom to see beds and get a free comfort consultation about which might work best for you.
Bedrooms & More
Bedrooms & More is a Wallingford-based mattress store that has been in operation since 1972. This family-owned business doesn’t just sell mattresses; they also make them. In 2009, they started a sister company, 45th Street Bedding, that sources high-end natural latex to construct mattresses. They use this material in a number of in-house offerings.
Bedrooms & More also features products, including mattresses and other bedding, from other local and regional manufacturers. One specialty offered by the company is two-sided mattresses, meaning that they can be flipped for use on either side, which is different from many modern mattresses. In 2018, a second showroom was opened right nearby on 45th Street, allowing the company to offer more products and a bigger, brighter space in which to view them.
Seattle Mattress Company
The Seattle Mattress Company is an outgrowth of the Canvas Supply Company, which was first founded in 1882. For reference, Seattle was founded in the early 1850s! Despite all of these years of history, the Seattle Mattress Company is still family-owned and offers mattresses produced by the Canvas Supply Company.
In their Ballard showroom, you can see their own in-house line of mattresses, or you can try out options that come from other regional manufacturers and from international brands. Many of the mattresses are natural, organic, and made locally.
