If you have watched any television in the last few years, you’ve no doubt caught one of the commercials for MyPillow — and you might even have the company’s catchy jingle memorized. MyPillow’s maker claims that it will be the “most comfortable pillow you will ever own,” but does the experience match the slogan?
Although MyPillow offers several different pillows, including the MyPillow Classic, Giza Elegance MyPillow, Premium Platinum MyPillow, and MyPillow Supima, we’re focusing our review on the MyPillow Premium, the company’s best selling pillow. Like all MyPillow pillows, the MyPillow Premium features the patented interlocking shredded memory foam fill, covered with 100% ringspun cotton. The pillow is available in multiple, color-coded loft levels: Yellow (least fill), White (regular fill), Green (more fill), and Blue (most fill). Loft levels are recommended based on your T-shirt size and preferred sleeping position.
What attracts many customers to MyPillow is the company’s origin story. Founder Mike Lindell created the pillow to help overcome his own sleeping problems, and in 2004, began selling his pillow at a mall kiosk and home and garden shows. It wasn’t until he created an infomercial in 2011 that MyPillow really took off, and today, the company has 15 standalone retail locations and sells pillows in retailers all over the U.S. and Canada. Despite facing class-action lawsuits related to deceptive advertising practices, MyPillow remains one of the top-selling pillows in the U.S, with more than 40 million pillows sold.
So is MyPillow the most comfortable pillow? We put it to the test.

How Does the MyPillow Premium Perform?
Overall, the MyPillow Premium offers average durability. Reviewers note that it lasts about 2-3 years before needing to be replaced. This assumes that the care instructions are followed and you regularly put the pillow in the dryer to fluff it up. Firmness Options
MyPillow offers four different firmness options ranging from least fill to most fill. The manufacturer recommends choosing the firmness based on your T-shirt size and preferred sleeping position. You cannot open the pillow to add or remove fill as desired; you can return the pillow for a softer or firmer pillow if needed. The 2-inch gusseted sidewalls enhance the firmness, especially for side sleepers.
MyPillow recommends that anyone used to sleeping on a down or feather pillow go down a firmness level when switching to MyPillow. For instance, if the recommendation chart suggests a green firmness level, you should purchase a white pillow for the most comfort.
Although some off-gassing is to be expected with any memory foam pillow, My Pillow won’t produce any lingering odors. The pillow instructions note to fluff the pillow in a dryer for 15 minutes before using, which increases odors for a short time.
MyPillow Premium is a good choice if you are looking for a pillow that provides the flexibility of polyfill with the cradling and support of memory foam. MyPillow Premium is more supportive than the Classic model, although some customers complain about the lumpiness of the foam filling. Still, compared to other memory foam pillows, MyPillow Premium sleeps cooler and is more lightweight and maneuverable for maximum comfort. The multiple size and firmness options suit most frame sizes and sleeping positions. On the downside, MyPillow is no more durable than other pillows at the same or lower price points, and some customers complain about odors and noise. The pillow also needs to be regularly re-fluffed to maintain its loft, and flat spots are common. Overall, MyPillow receives average to high ratings from customers, with many enthusiastic reviews. With a 60-day money-back guarantee, MyPillow is worth trying to determine whether it meets your individual needs.

What Type of Sleeper is Well-Suited to a MyPillow Pillow?
Side Sleepers: Side sleepers need a pillow that supports the neck and head to help maintain proper spinal alignment. Overall, side sleepers find that the firmer MyPillow options (the green and blue pillows) are the most comfortable. The yellow and white options may be too thin and not supportive enough for this sleeping position. Compared to the MyPillow Classic, the MyPillow Premium does offer more support for side sleepers thanks to the 2-inch gusseted sidewalls, which help improve the overall firmness and support.
Back Sleepers: If you prefer to sleep on your back, you need a thinner pillow to keep your spine aligned; a pillow with too much loft will raise your head and cause pain in your neck and back. In general, larger back sleepers found the MyPillow Premium comfortable, while those with smaller frames found the pillow too thin for good support. Back sleepers usually do best with the medium firmness MyPillow.
Stomach Sleepers: Stomach sleepers typically need thin pillows to maintain alignment and remove stress from the lower back. Generally speaking, stomach sleepers may be more comfortable with a different pillow than MyPillow, but smaller individuals may find that the yellow (least firm) MyPillow comfortable for sleeping on their stomachs.
