WinkBed offers its mattress in four different firmness settings: Soft (4.5), Luxury Firm (6.5), Firm (7.5). (The WinkBed Plus is a 6.5). These firmness numbers are based on a scale that runs from 1-10, with 1 being the least firm and 10 being the most firm. WinkBed recommends the Soft setting for those who sleep primarily on their side or back. It has a more flexible coil system and is designed for those who prefer a “deeper sink.”
The Luxury Firm, WinkBed’s best-selling configuration, is recommended for any sleeping position or those who change positions throughout the night. It was designed to combine contouring comfort with pushback support. WInkBed recommends the Firm mattress for those who like to sleep “on and not in” their mattress. It uses a firmer, zoned coil unit to provide adding support.
The WinkBed is an hybrid mattress, constructed in six layers. The base layer is 2 inches of 1.5 PCF (pounds per cubic foot) and 28 ILD (indentation-load deflection) foam. This layer is designed to further strengthen the bed’s edge support.
The next layer is made up of individually-wrapped pocket coils. The third layer is a cotton pad for improved lumbar support. The fourth layer is 2.4 inches of additional coils. The next layer is 1 inch of 1.5 PCF and 17 ILD gel-infused foam. The sixth and final layer is 1 inch of slightly softer 1.5 PCF and 17 ILD foam.
The WinkBed Plus has a slightly different construction. This bed’s support core is made of pocket coils encased in 1.8 PCF and 28 ILD polyfoam. There is a cotton pad, a middle layer of thicker latex and a top layer of gel polyfoam. The WinkBed mattress cover is made of Tencel fabric.

Winkbed Mattress Performance
Hybrid beds do not handle motion across the surface of the bed as well as a foam mattress. Customers often complain that a partner’s movements travel across the bed and disturb their own sleep. The WinkBed, however, performs notably well in this category. The bed’s two foam comfort layers isolate motion quite well.
With its reinforced innerspring support core and two inches of base foam, the WinkBed has excellent edge support. Customers report no problem with sinkage around the perimeter.
The WinkBed may sleep warmer than a traditional hybrid mattress, thanks to its foam comfort layers. But it still sleeps much cooler than a traditional foam bed. Overall, the WinkBed does a fairly good job dispersing heat while you sleep.
Most “bed in a box” mattress release a temporary odor when first removed from their packaging. This is referred to as “off-gassing.” WinkBed mattresses will often release an odor, but it will dissipate within a few hours.
WinkBed’s coil-on-coil construction, quality materials, and foam comfort layers add up to a bed most sleepers will find very supportive. Two inches of base foam underneath the coil support core add extra reinforcement and support around the bed’s perimeter.
Hybrid mattresses typically don’t conform to a sleeper the way a foam or latex mattress would. The conforming properties of a WinkBed mattress depend on the firmness level you choose. The softer the bed, the more conforming customers report.
WinkBed’s quality materials and construction indicate that it should hold up well. The company has not been in business long enough, however, to know exactly how the products will perform in the long run.
The WinkBed is quite responsive and the coil construction provides good bounciness. With multiple firmness options available, couples can choose which works best for them.
